Bark Boats

Upon this windy bank we stand
and silently we watch the flow
with aching hearts but tearless eyes
as our last moments float away.

See, one by one they disappear,
all heedless of my reached out hand
they drift downstream, diminishing,
and so we part, no more to say.

Perhaps somewhere on golden sand
you'll see them: on a sunny shore
the bark boats of our moments land
and bask beneath blue summer skies.

But for me your golden shores are banned.
I shared your dreams - and their demise.
